Over 100,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information, and we believe those people – and the companies they work for – shouldn’t have to choose between security and productivity. We see security as a human challenge, rather than a technological one. It’s hard work, but our mission has always been to ease the tension between security and convenience and help people navigate the digital world without fear or friction. Human-centric security is part of our DNA, but human-centricity is also the backbone of our culture. We encourage big ideas and new ways of working that help us to make the online world a safer place for everyone.

We are in search of an Analytics Engineer to join the Data Engineering Team. You will be part of the group of talented individuals that support reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and data science workload. On a typical day, you will help make sense of data from various internal tools that have been integrated into our central data lake, work with analysts to understand how key metrics are derived, help build dashboards or presentations, optimize data transformation and query performance to ensure that we have accurate data and insight at the right time.

This is a fully remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience with data analysis and preparation, including considerable experience with very large data sets and semi-structured data
  • Expertise in database development and data model design
  • Hands-on experience in SQL and using analytical database platforms such as BigQuery, MySQL, Redshift or Snowflake
  • Experience preparing datasets for consumption by BI / Dashboarding tools such as Looker Tableau, PowerBI or Mode (we use Looker)
  • Expertise in authoring data transformation pipelines within DBT
  • Strong understanding and background in data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with CRM Systems and sales analytics, and an understanding of marketing analytics is preferred
  • Bonus points for experience with financial reporting tools

What you can expect:

  • Work with executives and internal analytics teams throughout the company to transform, prepare and serve data for reporting and ad-hoc analysis needs.
  • Be instrumental in developing our data governance practices
  • Use your strong foundation in statistics to condense large datasets into actionable insights
  • Maintain a high level of data and reporting quality through various testing methodologies (unit tests, integration tests, statistical tests)
  • Inform the design of and assist in the implementation of robust self healing ETL pipelines
  • Govern the data models present in our reporting database, as well as reports generated through our BI tool

Even if you don't tick all those boxes, we'd like to hear from you.

The most important thing you can bring to this job is the drive to dive in, get the work done, and fix root causes instead of treating symptoms. We believe in continuous learning and support professional development on the job with a budget to back it up. If you bring a desire to do the right thing for our customers, a sense of ownership over the product you work on, and a focus on shipping quality code, we want to hear from you.

United States-based roles only: Minimum annual salary for this role is $108,000.00 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. All employees are owners of 1Password and receive an equity grant as part of their total package. At 1Password, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
