Analytics Engineer

The Analytics Engineer will own the data and data processes for the Efficacy research team and their school districts/implementation partners. Working collaboratively with analysts and researchers, the Analytics Engineer will determine the data needs for efficacy research analyses; understand the characteristics of major benchmark assessments and the assessment policies of districts / states; develop expertise in the alignment between assessments and the games within our School Solutions Products; communicate with external stakeholders to obtain the data needed in the appropriate format; establish processes to obtain these data efficiently; and support customer success by helping districts / implementation partners interpret data insights generated through analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with members of the Efficacy Research team to understand the types of data needed for standard efficacy research analyses and support the creation of data requests to educator partners
  • Understand the characteristics of various schools / districts’ benchmark assessments and their alignment with different games in School Solutions Programs
  • Create and own a Snowflake data mart to support efficacy research data needs, including building and maintaining data integrations, performing data transformations, and monitoring data quality and completeness
  • Explore and conduct different types of analyses to understand the relationships between Age of Learning® program usage and assessment outcomes
  • Create beautiful and informative automated/real-time dashboards and visualizations to communicate key learning metrics and analytical results
  • Communicate data reports to internal stakeholders and school / district / implementation partners

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluent in complex SQL queries on big data sets. Fluent in Tableau and Excel. Additional data visualization capabilities a plus
  • Fluent in a general-purpose programming language (preference for Python). Able to manipulate and explore data, perform analysis, and create visualizations using R or Python
  • Knows dimensional modeling for data warehousing
  • Great at data mining
  • Must be able to understand and analyze data, synthesizing large volumes of data and complex questions into clear analyses and actionable findings
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (such as analytics, statistics, applied math, data science, economics or computer science) from four-year college or university;
  • OR a Bachelor’s degree in a non-quantitative field AND a Master’s degree in a quantitative field
  • Curious, motivated, self-starter, collaborative, respectful, team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Can work iteratively, defining requirements as needed
  • Comfortable multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with PK-12 teachers / districts
  • Familiarity with PK-12 assessments
  • Familiarity with research design, research methods, and evaluation research
  • At least 2 years in a data engineering or analytical focused role in a digital environment, experience working on games or educational apps a plus

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $110,000 USD to $120,000 USD.
