Alma is on a mission to simplify access to high-quality, affordable mental health care. We do this by making it easy and financially rewarding for therapists to accept insurance and offer in-network care. When a provider joins Alma, they gain access to a suite of tools that not only help them better run their business, but also grow it sustainably and develop as a provider. Alma is available in all 50 states, with over 20,000 therapists in our growing network. Anyone looking for a therapist can browse Alma’s free directory. Alma has raised $220.5M in funding from Insight Partners, Optum Ventures, Tusk Venture Partners, Primary Venture Partners, First Round Capital, Sound Ventures, BoxGroup, Cigna Ventures, and Rainfall Ventures. Alma was also named one of Inc’s Best Workplaces in 2022 and 2023.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and optimize data models and queries to transform raw data into useful, actionable, and performant business metrics.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of Alma’s data pipeline architecture, leveraging Python for custom ETL/ELT processes, including the creation and maintenance of Singer taps and other data ingestion solutions.
  • Optimize and maintain our data warehouse (Redshift) for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve data quality, reliability, and performance issues across the data lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and implement robust processes for ingesting data from diverse internal and external sources.
  • Champion and implement data governance best practices and ensure compliance with data policies.
  • Partner with the data team and cross-functional stakeholders to understand evolving business needs, prioritize data initiatives, and contribute to the data strategy.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of testing frameworks and monitoring solutions for data pipelines.

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, with a strong emphasis on building and optimizing data pipelines and data warehouses.
  • You possess advanced SQL skills, with proven experience in writing complex, performant queries and optimizing them in a data warehouse environment like Redshift.
  • You have a deep understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g., dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT patterns) and extensive hands-on experience with data warehouse technologies, particularly Redshift, including performance tuning and optimization.
  • You have strong, hands-on experience with Python for data engineering, including developing custom ETL/ELT scripts, working with data pipeline frameworks (e.g., Singer.io), and interacting with APIs.
  • You have demonstrable expertise in data modeling, data transformation, and ensuring data quality and reliability in production systems.
  • Experience with dbt is highly desirable; familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Metabase) is a plus.
  • You are passionate about building scalable, maintainable, and production-ready data solutions.
  • You feel a passion for Alma's mission – to improve the experience of therapy for providers and their clients and simplify access to care.
