We are seeking a talented and experienced Analytics Engineer to join our team. The Brightside Analytics Engineering team develops core models, provides analysis, and generates reports for internal and external customers. We support product member growth, operations, clinical decision support, marketing, commercial, etc. As an Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for developing advanced sql models that drive business value and support the experience of Brightside Health’s patients, clinicians, and internal teams. You will be working with highly collaborative teams of product managers, engineers, data analysts, etc. The ideal candidate will not only be strong technically, but will also be excited about our data, be passionate about healthcare, have a product / problem solving mindset, and value clear communication and building relationships.

What you’ll be doing as an Analytics Engineer:

  • Build data models from raw into clean, reusable, well-defined, analytics-ready datasets, acting as the bridge between data engineering, analytics, and internal data consumers
  • Develop and maintain documentation to increase the understanding and utilization of our data models
  • Collaborate with the Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Science teams for data discovery, orchestration,  ETL, analysis and visualizations, etc.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of our dbt project, including code modularization, lineage maintenance, organization of marts and the implementation of dbt semantics layer
  • Co-own analytics transformation jobs orchestration, including troubleshooting jobs, optimizing pipeline and ensuring data quality

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, or a similar data role
  • 2+  years of professional experience of building complex and performant SQL scripts with preferred modeling techniques aligned with dbt’s best practices
  • Understanding of slowly changing dimensions (type 1, type 2, type 3, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data modeling techniques (star schema, dimensional modeling ,etc)
  • Required SQL skills:
  • Complex granular data to meaningful aggregations
  • Writing performant, cost effective, and repeatable logic
  • Strong understanding of SQL concepts such as window functions, CTEs, recursive queries, and partitioning
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in using visualization tools such as Tableau to design reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a data warehouse and handling large data sets in relational databases (healthcare-relevant datasets are a plus).
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a healthcare start-up environment
  • Experience with a some or a combination of the following data domains: clinical, financial, marketing, events, people, claims, and operations
