About the Role:
Chief is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our small but growing fully remote Data team. The mission of this role is to make reliable, well-structured data available for reporting, analysis, machine learning, and data products. While multiple members of the team will participate in building data models, the Analytics Engineer will take the lead on data architecture, processes and best practices. Our current analytics stack is Segment, Redshift, dbt, Looker and you will have a big role in evolving that stack over time. Having rich analytics at our fingertips will be critical to the success of Chief, and this role will help make it possible.
What you’ll do:
- [20%%] Architect our dbt project and establish best practices
- [20%%] Collaborate with stakeholders across Tech, Product, other Data teams to understand how data models are used now and might be in the future.
- [20%%] Mentor other Data team members and distributed analysts on how to contribute to data models
- [10%%] Monitor and optimize for performance (materializations, etc.)
- [10%%] Weigh in on tool and process decisions about our data stack
- [10%%] Propose improved ways to structure our data for reporting and modeling purposes
- [10%%] Collaborate with other engineers to ingest new data sources, including third-party data
What you’ve done and enjoy doing:
- Experience with dbt and strong SQL skills
- Knowledge of data modeling, dbt configuration, and performance implications
- Passion for working with stakeholders and curiosity about the business
- Eagerness to pitch in on analysis projects and data engineering tasks when needed
You Get Bonus Points For:
- Ability to analyze data with Python or R
- Experience with Redshift and the broader AWS stack
- General software engineering skills and experience: infra, data, data eng.

The base salary for this role is: $170,000.00
