We are a remote-first organization, with headquarters in Brooklyn, NY and team members in the U.S., Canada, Germany, Mexico, Nigeria, Brazil, and the U.K.
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Analytics Engineering Manager to lead and scale our data analytics team. In this role, you will manage a growing team of Analytics Engineers and oversee data modeling, infrastructure, and analytics projects. You will help build a collaborative environment where analytics engineers on your team can thrive, learn, and grow their skills. Additionally, you will play a key role in honing and evolving Data Culture’s strategy through co-design and experimentation.
The salary range for this role is $120-175k depending on experience. Team members outside the U.S. are hired as full-time contractors and receive a salary adjusted for cost of living in their location. Occasional travel may be required to attend team gatherings, partner events, and conferences.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years experience in people management
- 4-6 years experience in an analytics engineering, data engineering, data architecture, business intelligence, or technical data & analytics roles.
- Advanced SQL knowledge
- Experience working with data pipelines and transformations using tools in the modern data stack (Fivetran/Stitch, dbt, Snowflake)
- Experience building reporting and visualizations using tools like Looker, Tableau, or Sigma Computing
- Ability to leverage tools, business intuition, and attention to detail for data validation and QA
- Excellent communication skills; you'll be be managing stakeholders and communicating the value of data infrastructure work to people with varied levels of familiarity
Responsibilities
- Be a reference for your team;
- Build a great team both recruiting great talent and helping them grow;
- Be willing to be hands-on, when needed.
- Architect and design data models; that includes understanding business requirements, KPIs, and reporting needs and translating them into SQL tables to create data models
- Write reusable scripts extensible across projects, making sure work is well documented in github repositories and notion
- Implement data quality checks and alerting to ensure data reliability and consistency
- Implement cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery)
- Writing custom ingestion connectors using Fivetran
- Build dashboards and reports in Looker, Sigma Computing or Tableau
Experience that will help
- You've worked on a data team at a startup or larger organization
- You've partnered with business stakeholders across departments to help unlock data capabilities and answer questions using data
- You are aware of data modeling best practices using dbt
