Analytics Engineer (Marketing)
Do you ever wonder what happens inside the cloud?
Headquartered in New York but based around the world, DigitalOcean is a dynamic, high-growth technology company that serves a robust and passionate community of developers around the world. Our mission is to simplify cloud computing for every developer. We are working on solving some of the most challenging and interesting technology projects around, on a scale unmatched by most.
We want innovators who are passionate about seeing our customers succeed at scale.
We are looking for a motivated and results-oriented self-starter who is passionate about Growth Marketing to join our Revenue Marketing team. We are a team with a proven track record in combining a strong focus on the end-to-end customer experience and data-driven experimentation and decision-making in order to make a real difference for our customers and DigitalOcean.
Your role will be to help scale the efforts of the marketing and analytics team across a portfolio of hundreds of thousands of paying customers. You will help make the essential marketing use cases for data (the ability to select an audience, trigger a growth intervention, and report on performance) work seamlessly for our marketing teams; this will be accomplished by finding and building solutions to automate critical workflows, as well as working cross-functionally with other teams to implement those solutions as needed. By sitting at the intersection of the marketing analytics and engineering fields, this is a unique opportunity to demonstrate that more automation, and less button-clicking, can increase the velocity of both analytical and marketing workflows.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Connect platforms within our Marketing technology stack: Keep data flowing between each system, and striving to deliver the most accurate data possible.
- Find opportunities to automate manual processes: Solve big problems! We’re seeking someone to improve, reimagine, and scale our systems to enable our teams to meet their revenue goals.
- Partner crossfunctioally to deliver data to the right teams at the right time: Assist the Data Science team to move models from prototype to production, work with the data engineering team to complete ETL/ELT projects, build attribution tracking with Growth and Sales Operations.
- Improve clickstream tracking across our web properties: Understand and make recommendations for improved data collection. Own modeling and enrichment of data and use quality assurance best practices to ensure the highest accuracy of data is delivered.
- Contribute to internal programming packages and best practices: Help to develop more efficient analytical tooling that will help us better understand the customer journey, attribution, and Marketing effectiveness.
What You'll Add to DigitalOcean:
- A track record of solving big problems: We’re looking for someone who can effectively communicate complex topics, work collaboratively, and organize their time efficiently.
- Proven experience with programming languages essential to Analytics Engineering: Strong SQL a requirement, some python experience encouraged. JavaScript experience a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud computing technology: experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) is ideal, some exposure to dbt preferable.
- Direct experience with our Marketing Data tools: Hands-on experience or an understanding of Segment, Optimizely, and Google Tag Manager.
- Fluency with software engineering best practices: The ability to apply them to analytics code via version control, testing, and continuous integration.
