We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our growing Analytics, Insights and Measurement Team! The Predictive Analytics team at Hasbro is responsible for analytics in the domains of forecasting, pricing, and media. The data ecosystem is complex and we are seeking a team member to build a cohesive picture of our media deployments for Nerf, Play-doh, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and other top brands.

The primary directive for the role is to empower the business to easily query for comprehensive information about Hasbro’s media spend and outcomes over time. The same datasets must also be suitable as inputs into media mix models and experimental analysis. Hasbro purchases both digital and traditional media in multiple channels for a broad portfolio of brands and markets. Reconciling the many sources of information into clean, harmonized, easily queried tables is the defining challenge for this role.

This person will be the steward and originator of data transformation best-practices using dbt, Git, and Databricks. They will independently improve the structure of the data, its documentation, and the tools we have for transforming, validating, and monitoring its health.

A day in the life of a Sr. Analytics Engineer:

  • Harmonizing digital ad data from across the major ad-buying platforms, and maintaining clear documentation of the semantics and lineage information back to the original APIs that provide the data.
  • Reconciling information provided by the digital platforms with manual annotations provided by e.g. agency workers.
  • Developing efficient mechanisms for data transformation, testing, and exposure using dbt.
  • Aligning media data with sales information at the grain of individual products.
  • Stitching together historical datasets provided by our agency partners with ongoing data feeds to provide a continuous, years-long history of reliable, model-ready media data.
  • Work with data scientists on the team to supply them with inputs for modeling and analysis. Partner with our supporting Data Engineering team, specifying requirements for the ingestion and processing of new data sources in an Agile setting.
  • This is an individual contributor role, but it will be supported by outsourced analytics engineers whose work will need to be specified and reviewed.

What you'll bring:

  • Advanced SQL proficiency and and a love of writing it!
  • Extensive use of dbt, including macro authorship and testing, and current knowledge and practice using its latest features for model versioning and exposure.
  • Experience using Github or similar for version control and a zeal for code review.
  • Experience working with data from digital marketing platforms including Facebook Marketing, Google Ads, and Amazon Ads, and have solid knowledge of their schemas, APIs and semantics.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn high-level directives and objectives into detailed plans for development, such that an Epic’s worth of work can be broken down and passed out to junior-level Analytics Engineers.
  • Familiarity with API extract-load integrators like Funnel.io or Fivetran a plus.
  • Proficiency with Python-based transformation using data frames a plus.
