Analytics Engineer
Klaviyo is looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our growing R&D team. Data is core to who we are as a company, and you will play a pivotal role in data engineering to ensure that Product Analytics is developing datasets in a scalable, compliant, and efficient manner, while also deriving insights through analysis. Our team works closely with product managers and engineers to best serve the needs of customers within specific product areas.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, proactive in seeking solutions to challenging problems, and highly focused on delighting our customers. This person will also act as the product-data ambassador for Business Intelligence, Engineering, and Legal. The Analytics Engineer will streamline data warehousing processes and practices, while also extending the trusted data sources by partnering with other analytics and engineering teams across Klaviyo.
How you will make a difference:
- Build new production datasets in SQL (DBT) to enhance data availability and accessibility, enabling better-informed business decisions for R&D.
Logic will include: window functions, conditional logic, JSON parsing, dynamic SQL, advanced data cleaning, and performant lineages/tasks. - Own and manage an internal analytics platform (Shiny-Server on AWS Ubuntu) that streamlines internal data workflows for internal consumption within R&D.
- Ensure smooth management of data systems, with robust approaches to testing and validation, to minimize disruptions and downtime.
- Enable efficient data processing and analysis that aligns with the company's needs, including some AdHoc analyses
- Understand North Star metrics and analytics use-cases as it relates to the creation of new datasets, and facilitates effective conversations with product area leads
- Ensure the development of robust, consistent, and future-proof data solutions.
- Own data roadmap for new product areas, with support aligning to long term vision.
- Advocate for effective automation and tooling development, improving overall team productivity.
Who you are:
- You have worked in data engineering: including expertise in SQL, data warehouses, and object-oriented programming languages: specifically Python / R in an analytics or data science role for 2+ years professionally
- You have knowledge of data engineering best practices (data discovery, data documentation, infrastructure development/deployment, and information security)
- You value the importance of a well-designed, future-proof data environment; a creator at heart
- You are a systematic thinker, enjoy finding creative technical solutions to hard problems and close collaboration with a team.
- You are able to diagnose key trends in the data, interpret the root cause of variance with some support, and proactively surface important trends to product area leads.
- You have a bias towards learning and constant iteration
- You are self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
- You have strong communication and organization skill
Nice to have:
- You have a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or other quantitative field Working Infrastructure / dev ops knowledge (AWS, Airflow, Terraform, Github CLI)
- Experience with Analytics Platform development
- Experience with datasets for a SaaS or web-based technologies
- Familiarity with scripting language for Rest APIs / JDBC
Base Pay Range For US Locations: $112,000—$168,000 USD
