Data Product Manager - Analytics Engineering

Position Summary:
This position is part of an expanding Data Science team with the mission to discover, inspire and engage fans worldwide. The Data Product Manager- Analytics Engineering will be primarily responsible for the technical management and growth of the NBA Leaguewide Data Platform. The Data Product Manager will additionally be responsible for managing partner contracts, optimizing workflow efficiencies, prioritizing inbound data requests, reducing work in progress, and ensuring projects meet deadlines. The Data Product Manager- Analytics Engineering will work to streamline data and information flows for NBA team fan data, NBA League Pass, nationally televised games, email marketing, in-app marketing, and other Direct to Consumer (DTC) initiatives. Successful candidates will have experience as both a hands-on analytics engineer and a product manager of data-intensive projects in a matrixed environment. The ideal candidate will learn the ins and outs of the fan and team data ecosystem and will operate as the Point Guard for all team-based fan data tasks -- knowing who to pass the ball to and scoring points when the path is clear.
Major Responsibility:
- Lead technical management of the NBA Leaguewide Data Platform
- Work with solutions architects, data scientists, data analysts, product managers, BI developers, and data engineers to scope tasks and ensure completion
- Work with Business Solutions team, team data strategists, NBA Team analytics leads, and engineers on solutions management
- Work with Fan Data Platform leads to increase throughput to Leaguewide Data Platform
- Manage project management software and PM-software integrations for growing analytics team
- Work with NBA Legal team and associates on ensuring contracts are correctly developed, followed, and fulfilled
- Field in-bound analytics and technical requests from various groups
- Understand team inefficiencies, work to reduce works in progress, and operationalize best practices in project management
- Ensure the highest order of data quality and legal compliance
- Report operational and project wins and losses
- Ensure alignment with broader data product management functions
- Collaborate with other teams to refine task needs and maximize team productivity
- Work with Team-facing colleagues to ensure Fan Data Platform meets team needs
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- 3+ years as a data product manager or analytics engineer in a data-centric environment
- 3+ years experience in Azure Databricks or Snowflake
- 2+ years experience with SQL
- 2+ years experience with dbt
- 1+ years experience leading data QA Experience in Azure DevOps, Jira, Asana, or other PM software
- Skilled in data analysis and data understanding

- Strong collaborator who can work effectively within a matrixed organization to influence and drive results
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple and intuitive communications
