Analytics Engineer II

About the Role
As an Analytics Engineer II, you will occupy a vital position in Oscar’s financial data pipeline, both as an architect of improvements to its infrastructure and in the delivery of transformed data to downstream users. You will play a leading role in the design and implementation of the Financial Data Hub, a DBT project of fit for purpose financial transaction data and functionality, and its integration with financial record keeping software. You will also contribute to the creation and enhancement of comprehensive and reliable Certified Datasets (CDS) curated to reduce time-to-insight for stakeholders and facilitate efficient answering of business questions. You will maintain strong collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and partner with them to understand requirements for the Financial Data Hub and for Finance CDS features.
You will report to an Associate Director, Financial Data Platform.

Pay Transparency
The base pay for this role is: $119,200 - $156,450 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, monthly vacation accrual up to 10 days per year, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.
You must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Oscar will not sponsor applicants for this role.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Finance team to determine the requirements for the structure of data and functionality in the Financial Data Hub and the flow of data between the Hub and Finance's software. Design and build the Hub and its connections based on those requirements.
- Become a financial data subject matter expert and use that knowledge both to inform the design and build of the Financial Data Hub and to contribute to expanding the breadth, depth, and accuracy of Finance CDS, the principal direct source of financial data for the Hub and for business users across Oscar.
- Promote data fidelity in upstream data producing systems and expand quality checks within Finance CDS and the Financial Data Hub.
- Partner with Engineering to validate updates to raw financial data structure within an evolving production system and update Finance CDS and Financial Data Hub code accordingly while preventing service interruption for stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions to enhance the efficiency of existing financial data transformations, with a focus on speed, cost-effectiveness, and stability.
- Train and mentor data scientists and data engineers in analytics engineering best practices
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience working with a variety of database languages, including SQL, DDL and DML with demonstrated ability to efficiently transform data and databases.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud database tools (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- 2+ years of experience developing within a modern data transformation tool like DBT.
- 1+ years of experience working with and presenting to non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Points
- Experience integrating cloud database tools (GCP, AWS, Azure) with financial software (Workday, Netsuite)
- Experience working with healthcare data, analytics, and reporting.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- A background in healthcare and/or insurance.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, as demonstrated by experience on at least 1 project or initiative requiring communication between technical and non-technical users.
