The expected annual salary range for this role is $125,000-145,000 USD, depending on your level of expertise, your experience, and your qualifications.
This Analytics Engineer will be a pivotal member in our fast growing startup. As the second hire of the Data team, you will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, improvement, maintenance, and quality assurance of our data pipelines day to day and during critical phases of integration with external systems. You will work autonomously and bring a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking to support reporting for internal and external clients.
Our stakeholders rely on data artifacts to make critical business decisions, so having a passion for data quality, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to creating reliable and accurate data solutions is important for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance: Lead initiatives to assure internal and external trust on data.
- Data Pipelines: Lead and implement architectural improvements to the data pipeline to prepare it for scalability and to enhance performance. Integrate, test, and document new models developed by Sage product analysts and from external sources.
- Reporting: Collaborate with the internal teams to update and scale existing data artifacts, and migrate some processing tasks to the data pipeline, ensuring efficient and effective reporting solutions for our clients.
- Continuous Improvement: Conduct technical research and implement state-of-the-art methodologies as needed to increase efficiency, accuracy and overall business value.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of post grad experience in analytics engineering or business intelligence at scale, with a strong record of developing and maintaining complex data pipelines and enforcing data quality processes.
- A minimum of 1 year of post grad experience communicating core business metrics with data visualization and dash boarding tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, Mixpanel, Hex, etc.), with a strong understanding of ties between data and business operations.
- Non academic experience with Python, particularly with data related libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, or equivalent)
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable supporting non-technical teams to reach their goals and managing expectations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on delivering results.
- Entrepreneurial and self-starter spirit. You will be expected to actively identify, prioritize and solve for the needs of different teams and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Hevo + Snowflake + dbt + Hex/Mixpanel is preferred
- In particular, extensive experience with dbt can be a deciding factor, as it is the platform where most of the work is expected to happen.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or other Quantitative field
- Experience building Machine Learning models in production environments.
- Experience in the healthcare industry and familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare compliance standards
