Software Engineering Manager - Analytics

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager - Analytics to support our rapidly growing team in Missoula, MT or Seattle, WA. This role will manage and mentor a growing team of engineers working on new data product areas. You will lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically by diving deeply into business and technical domains, working closely with internal stakeholders. This is a full-time individual contributor role and reports to the Director of Engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Jump into our software and data, quickly coming up to speed
- Lead a team of analytics engineers to deliver predictable engineering results
- Develop your team members, grow the overall performance of your team, and contribute to the performance of your peers’ teams, department, and Submittable as a whole
- Break down a large/complex problem, quickly derive an efficient design, document and implement the core framework, and hand off the simple components to staff
- Work with a cross-functional team including product and other internal stakeholders in all phases of product and analytics development
You’ll Be Successful With:
- 8+ years of experience with software, data, and/or analytics engineering
- 2+ years working with a large-scale (1B+ Rows) Data Warehouse, preferably in a cloud environment
- Proven track record in building high-performing teams; experience hiring and retaining engineers
- Deep understanding of Agile software development, including scrum
- Modern cloud native infrastructure and design principles
- Extensive experience in 2 or more data subject areas (marketing sales, finance, product)
- Ability to work with SQL, Snowflake, dbt, Python, Kafka, and Git
- Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker is a plus
- Comfort working in a highly agile, intensely iterative environment
