The Analytics Engineer II is part of a team responsible for owning, developing, and maintaining our Enterprise Analytics Applications specifically within our cloud environment. This position focuses heavily on the modeling and transforming of our structured and semi-structured data in the cloud that provided scalable, high-performance views/cubes for our BI Developers and field analysts to consume. This position works with a group of peers in an agile scrum environment dedicated to providing pipelines and data to a domain of the business. This role works very closely with our BI Developers, Data Science, and end stakeholders to build robust tools and technology to support the business. This role works it’s way to becoming a subject matter expert in our stack of development tools that supports our products we produce. This role develops robust, scalable solutions for collecting and analyzing large data sets and must be proficient in creating and maintaining data pipelines.

Position Functions:

  • Demonstrate autonomy in work including implementing solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Display ownership in work from planning/development through completion.
  • Develop and support engineering pipelines.
  • Operate and develop in Agile team environment (including backlog refinement, user story creation, ownership).
  • Develop expertise and understanding of core business functions of assigned domain.
  • Work collaboratively across team and demonstrate ability to multi-task.
  • Ensure opened tickets are resolved within a timely fashion.
  • Design logical data models and their physical schema design.
  • Partner with data owners to design solutions that align to data governance and data management principles best practices.

What We’re Looking For:

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field required

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience developing robust, scalable solutions for collecting and analyzing large data sets. Must be proficient in creating and maintaining data pipelines
  • Experience with ETL tools (such as Informatica, dbt, FiveTran, AWS/Azure products)
  • Some experience programming in Java & Python. Big data knowledge is a plus
  • Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/Google)
  • Experience contributing to a Data Dictionary, Canonical Data Model, or Code/Product documentation
  • Experience with Git and/or bitbucket is a plus
  • Transportation, Logistics, and/or Tech industry experience a plus

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to explain products to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to pick-up new tools & languages and apply them to projects
  • Strong collaborative mindset, good judgment with great interpersonal skills required to help solve complex business problems
  • Proficiency in developing packages, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and complex SQL statements
  • Understanding of Snowflake environment and Optimizing models
  • Ability to work with multiple data sources and types (structured/semi-structured/unstructured)
  • High level expertise with SQL
  • Data Visualization with PowerBI / Tableau / QlikView or equivalent is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, and dynamic environment with both virtual and face-to-face interactions
  • Solid knowledge of Data Engineering/Modeling processes
  • Solid knowledge of SQL DBA work or Snowflake DBA work
  • Solid in MS Office products
  • Adept at assessing organizational dynamics and managing change
  • Works quickly and efficiently. Able to test solutions, learn, and iterate quickly
  • Proactive and pragmatic problem solver
  • Communicates effectively across multiple mediums
