Analytics Engineer
The Analytics Engineer will own data modeling and transformation within the UVC data warehouse, as well as contribute to data ingestion processes and BI reporting initiatives. A key weighted member of the Business Intelligence team serves as a strategic partner in the BI team’s growth for the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SQL transformation pipelines (via DBT) including change management, testing, and modeling best practices.
- Test, monitor, and report on data health and data quality.
- Ensure all data tables are loaded efficiently and are using correct and consistent KPI logic.
- Collaborate with rest of business intelligence team to ensure timely delivery of BI initiatives.
- Working closely with Director of BI to execute on the strategic vision for UVC BI.
- Supporting the data warehouse in identifying and revising requirements.
- Troubleshooting the reporting database environment and reports.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of Power BI reports from single or multiple systems.
- Contribute to the documentation of data assets.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and experience required.
- Expert/Advanced proficiency in SQL required.
- Intermediate proficiency in data modeling required.
- Experience using python for data related tasks.
- Exposure to using DBT to transform data.
- Some proficiency in Power BI preferred but not required.
- Some proficiency in Azure Data Factory a plus but not required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a multisite business preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and respond both promptly and diplomatically.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, writing skills, relationship-building skills, and an ethical mindset.
- Ability to present complex information to all levels of the organization including the executive team.
- Keen sense of prioritization with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
