$160,000 to $180,000 per year
Location
This role can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as you can work our Vouch core collaboration hours (8:30 am-2:30 pm Pacific Time) when most internal meetings are held.
Vouch is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our team. We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes data and gets excited about data warehouses, building infrastructure to manage fast-changing data assets, and maintaining data quality. You will be the bridge between our data platform and the analysts that rely on it. You will be responsible for modeling complex, interconnected datasets in a scalable, auditable, and reliable manner, ensuring that our data warehouse is both robust and adaptable to support data-driven culture. You will need to balance technical rigor, domain understanding, and stakeholder communication to maintain and enhance the integrity, reliability, and utility of our analytical data assets.
You will:
- Architect, build and optimize robust data models in dbt to power business reporting processes and analytics use cases
- Effectively speak with, and listen to, business stakeholders, engineers, designers, executives, etc., so that you can
- Understand business context and support analysts/business stakeholders across GTM, Insurance, Finance, Product, etc. to design and build single-source-of-truth data assets to drive Vouch’s business
- Act as a liaison between Engineering and Analytics to define source and target fields for data assets
- Partner with upstream Engineering teams to develop new and adapt existing data models as our technology and business evolve
- Clearly document specs and data models with source, description, and field definitions to enhance collaboration, scalability, and usability
- Set up tests to ensure data quality, monitor daily job execution, and diagnose/fix issues to ensure SLAs are met
- Perform root cause analysis for data quality issues, and partner with upstream teams and business stakeholders to rectify dirty, incomplete, or unreliable data
- Maintain and enforce consistent data modelling standards, best practices, and design patterns
- Provide and receive constructive feedback through code reviews, technical specifications, and pair programming sessions
- Use software development best practices with a focus on version control, testing, reliability and maintainability
- Work in dbt, SQL, Snowflake, git, Airflow, Python, Stitch, Mode, and we welcome new ideas!
You may be a good fit for the role if you have:
- 5+ years experience developing ETL/ELT workflows as a data analytics engineer, data engineer, or data analyst, supporting a variety of business domains
- Advanced experience in SQL, dbt, Snowflake, and git
- Intermediate experience building business reporting processes (e.g. for Finance, GTM, Actuarial, etc.).
- Intermediate experience leveraging data pipeline services like Stitch and orchestration tools like Airflow
- Are excited to learn about Vouch’s business models, and dig into our business processes to understand how data is generated
- Are energized by business impact & a self-starter
- Advanced communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Thrive in cross-functional projects that have a heavy combination of technical requirements and user-focused workflow
- Basic experience with business intelligence tools such as Mode Analytics
- Basic experience in Python, Airflow, Stitch
- (BONUS) Familiarity with insurance or financial services data modeling
- (BONUS) Exposure to and passion for early-stage startups and/or high growth environments
