Senior Analytics Engineer Reporting & Analytics

This role will partner with internal Walgreens IT data engineering and Analytics teams to implement and maintain data infrastructure environments that enables report automation for the Walgreens Health Care Quality Improvement program.As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you’ll collaborate with a cross functional team of data analysts, BI developers, system administrators, and information users to help deliver performance insights across Walgreens Health.This role can either be located in Chicago or fully remote.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees the delivery of Walgreens Health CQI data initiatives and projects. Supports long term and ad-hoc data ETL and data warehousing activities to meet Walgreens Health reporting and analytics deliverables.
- Designs, develops, and deploys dimensional databases and data pipelines to support reporting and analytics projects.
- Creates data staging and pre processing standards for populating logical and physical data models tied to report specific working tables for both enterprise business intelligence and pre defined reporting solutions.
- Applies data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices in order to integrate large data sets from various internal Walgreens production system sources and third party files.
- Perform data profiling and data analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare data sets. (e.g., member eligibility, medical claims, pharmacy claims, HEDIS ECDS files)
- Developing internal tools for automation of all development-related activities (data processing, QA, data validation, etc.)
Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrable, hands on experience in writing and tuning SQL based ETL/ELT scripts
- Experience configuring and deploying logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services that include but are not limited to Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Experience providing thought leadership and introducing tool agnostic semantic data layer improvements related to BI technology platform such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with technical teams, internal stakeholders, customers, and vendor partners.
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to/at least 5%% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Data Management\\Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
- Familiarity with healthcare and clinical analytics concepts
