Senior Analytics Engineer
The Senior Analytics Engineer is a critical role in the Business Intelligence team, working toward the goal of designing and implementing complex data-driven decision-making solutions for Year Up. Reporting to Senior Director, Business Intelligence, the Senior Analytics Engineer collaborates with and influences analysts and business users across the organization to produce outputs that enable a more rigorous understanding of our operations and outcomes through data.
Business Intelligence sits at the intersection of business and technology, and this role is grounded in both. As a technical position, the day-to-day work will primarily consist of working with a modern technical stack. The work will serve the big picture needs of the business, and this role must become fluent in Year Up’s operations and systems while effectively serving as an internal consultant who can demonstrate insights that measure enterprise business impact and results.
This is an ideal role for a deeply analytical individual who is a self-starter, a quick learner, and who enjoys structuring and solving ambiguous problems by asking the right questions of stakeholders, understanding the needed data and creating technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
This individual’s core responsibilities will be to partner across the enterprise to understand outcomes, design and produce sophisticated data models and visualizations that will drive data-driven decision-making across multiple levels of leadership, including senior leadership. This will primarily be executed using a modern technical stack, with a strong emphasis on data engineering, modeling using SQL and data warehousing. Key responsibilities include:
• Develop an understanding of operational data and create scalable data products which empower data-driven decision making across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with team members and functional stakeholders to collect business requirements, define successful analytics outcomes, and design data models and associated visualizations.
• Design, develop, and extend dbt code to extend the enterprise dimensional model using an agile mindset.
• Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
• Build automated, scalable, test-driven ELT pipelines.
• Utilize software development practices such as version control via Git, CI/CD, and release management.
• Implement data quality frameworks and data quality checks.
• Work independently and effectively manage time across multiple priorities and projects.
• Support ad-hoc requests and production issues identified using Service now system.
• Be a critical part of a scrum team in an agile environment, ensuring the team successfully meets its deliverables each sprint.

Qualifications
• 5+ years in the Data space as an analyst, engineer, or equivalent
• 3+ years experience designing, implementing, operating, and extending enterprise dimensional models
• 3+ years working with a Data Warehouse, preferably in a cloud environment
• 3+ years experience building reports and dashboards in a data visualization tool like Tableau
• 1+ years creating users stories using agile project management practices and experience working on an agile team
• Strong SQL proficiency
• Experience building reliable and resilient data pipelines using tools like DBT and Matillion
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices
• Experience with git and knowledge of CICD best practices

Candidates with one or more of the following will be particularly competitive:
• Professional experience working in a related field, especially in IT or Education
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Netsuite, Workday and Adaptive
• Experience with any of the following: DBT, Matillion, Snowflake, Fivetran, Tableau, AWS
• Knowledge of statistics/machine learning and experience delivering this functionality in a production environment
• Data engineering experience
Salary range: $100,000 - $115,000
