Hex’s Data team is shaping the future of the data profession. We push the frontier of analytics tooling and best practices by shaping the future of the Hex product, as well as enabling best-in-class operations and decision making within the company.
Note that this is a full stack data role, which will require both data analysis and modeling data in dbt. We are not expecting you to be an expert in both, and being stronger in either background is fine by us. You should be interested in shoring up whichever you have less practice with and be adept in using AI to supplement your existing skillset.
On a daily basis, you’ll lead the way on thinking about how data teams operate in the AI era, as well as accelerate our Hex’s ability to bring that future to data teams everywhere. You’ll specifically focus on partnering with our Growth and Monetization team to help us evolve our pricing and packaging, experiment with new ways of showing the value of our product in trials, and arm your colleagues with data and insights that make Hex feel like a no-brainer to adopt.
You can read posts about data work at Hex on our blog, including how we think about data roles, how we are evolving our own workflows post-AI, and the ways we use Hex here at Hex.
What you'll do
- Conduct analysis on what makes for a successful sales POC or self-service trial of our product
- Partner with a cross-functional growth squad to improve our product-led-sales strategy
- Help us evaluate and evolve our approach to monetization alongside our rapidly evolving product
- Continuously test and adopt new tools and workflows in Hex and beyond, share your feedback with our product teams, and help train teammates on how to use Hex effectively as a data workspace
About you
Experiences and skills you have include:
- 8+ years of experience as a data analyst, analytics engineer or data scientist, or equivalent years working in a highly analytical role regardless of title
- A track record of working to maximize business impact by navigating ambiguity and focusing on unblocking the functions you support
- Curiosity about new technologies and a willingness to experiment with tools and workflows to improve how teams work with data
- A drive for quality, simplicity, and maintainability in your work
- Strong agent management skills, knowledge of SQL and dbt, and experience maintaining data warehouses and ELT pipelines
These experiences are not required, but will help you stand out as an applicant
- Previous experience working at a sales-driven B2B company, especially with one with a high-touch sales motion
- Experience exploring or implementing emerging tools or methods in the data ecosystem (e.g. AI-assisted tooling, novel dbt workflows)
- A passion for community—whether that means contributing to internal documentation, mentoring teammates, or sharing how you work externally
