SF Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, NYC, Seattle: $165,000 - $196,000; Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $150,000 - $180,000; All other cities and towns in our approved states: $140,000 - $170,000
Location
United States, Remote. This role is eligible for full-time remote work in one of our entities in the Pacific Time Zone: CA, NV, OR, and WA.
Analytics Engineers bridge the gap between data engineering and data analysis, focusing on transforming raw data into clean, structured, and accessible datasets that empower stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. Their role combines technical expertise, collaboration, and software engineering best practices to ensure reliable and scalable analytics systems. Analytics Engineers commercial, finance, platform, and R&D teams with trusted, high-quality data to drive business decisions at speed.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain efficient data models for company-wide analysis, collaborating closely with business users.
- Develop user-facing data products using SQL and analytics on core infrastructure managed by the Data Engineering team.
- Optimize and improve Liftoff's Looker-based BI layer to scale and meet business needs.
- Independently complete tasks, managing your priorities and contributing to larger projects with minimal supervision.
- Identify and resolve technical debt, improving team productivity and project health.
- Maintain and troubleshoot data pipelines, ensuring reliable operation.
- Collaborate with users to optimize queries, design aggregations, and suggest performance improvements.
- Follow best practices like version control and CI/CD, ensuring maintainable and scalable code.
- Ensure high-quality work that meets security, reliability, and privacy standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience with SQL, including expertise in writing efficient, optimized queries.
- Strong experience with Data Analytics and a solid understanding of query plans and data model optimization.
- 2+ years of experience with Looker, including developing user-facing dashboards, reports, and complex data models.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and integration with data workflows.
- Experience with JupyterLab for interactive analysis, data exploration, and creating reproducible workflows.
- Experience with DBT, Rill, and Looker for data modeling and BI tools.
- Strong knowledge of database fundamentals (execution plans, join strategies, etc.), with the ability to tune queries for performance.
- Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with different teams to understand requirements.
Nice to Have
- Experience in ad-tech.
- Knowledge of AgroCD, Kubernetes, AWS, and Github.
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies like Apache Spark or Databricks.
- Experience with a second programming language (especially Scala).
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows.
